A Seer Prophet is a term often used in Scripture to describe a prophet who primarily receives revelation from God through visions or visual encounters, rather than (or in addition to) hearing God’s voice audibly.
The Hebrew word for seer is ra’ah (רָאָה), meaning “to see, perceive, or have vision.”
In the Old Testament, seer and prophet were used somewhat interchangeably, but seer emphasized the way a prophet received revelation: through visions, dreams, or supernatural sight.
1 Samuel 9:9 (KJV):
“(Beforetime in Israel, when a man went to inquire of God, thus he spake, Come, and let us go to the seer: for he that is now called a Prophet was beforetime called a Seer.)”
This shows that “seer” was an older term for prophet, but it highlights a prophet’s ability to see spiritually.
